He has made a career in identifying, measuring, monitoring, and mitigating reputational, legislative, regulatory and political risk, across Canada, United States, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and South America.

With more than 20 years of experience spanning government, corporate affairs, government relations and complex stakeholder environments, Chet brings a perspective that goes well beyond traditional business consulting.  He looks at the enterprise from the outside in—and asks the questions that others may not be asking.

Chet specializes in sectors where public support, policy and regulatory challenges present significant business risk, and is an expert in critical stakeholder engagement, including governments (democratic and non-democratic), media, non-government organizations, labour unions, Indigenous Peoples, investors, and traditional and social media.

 

Chet is the Founder of the public affairs firm, Convergent Strategies.  Prior to that, he held a number of executive corporate positions, including Head, Corporate Affairs at BHP Canada where he developed and deployed a comprehensive engagement strategy with provincial and federal governments and other stakeholders to enable BHP’s growth in Canada.  He was also Senior Director, Global Government Relations for Potash Corporation Inc. (PotashCorp, now Nutrien), where he oversaw the development and implementation of the company’s global Public Affairs program in jurisdictions where the company operated, invested and conducted business (including Canada, the United States, Israel, Jordan, India and Trinidad).

 

Chet also has considerable experience in the midstream, upstream, and petrochemicals sectors, primarily as senior Government Relations counsel. Having served with the Departments of National Defence, Foreign Affairs & International Trade and as a Special Assistant to a federal Cabinet Minister, Chet brings a unique blend of political, bureaucratic and industry experience well-suited to organizational objectives.

 

Chet is married to Janet Reynolds, a family physician based in Calgary, and has a daughter, Cait, and a son, Carson.
